  This genuine Ford wheel bearing and hub assembly is the front hub unit for the four-wheel-drive 2000 through 2003 Ranger without a solid beam front axle and equipped with four-wheel ABS. The assembly combines the wheel hub, the pre-set sealed bearing and the seal into a single serviceable unit that carries the vehicle's weight, allows the front wheel to rotate, mounts the brake rotor and wheel, and houses the ABS tone ring and sensor interface. A worn or failing front hub bearing produces a cyclic humming or growling that rises with vehicle speed, wheel play or looseness, ABS warning lights from an erratic wheel speed signal, and in severe cases heat and roughness at the wheel. This Ford-engineered unit is a direct replacement that restores quiet, safe front wheel rotation and correct ABS operation. The front hub retaining nut is a single-use fastener and must be replaced with a new one and torqued to Ford specification on installation rather than reused; inspect the mating steering knuckle bore and the ABS sensor for damage during the job.
