• Description:

  This is a genuine Ford CV axle carrier bearing retainer clamp for the Focus, the bracket and clamp that secures the intermediate shaft support bearing on the half-shaft assembly. On applications with an intermediate shaft, this clamp holds the carrier bearing to the engine or transaxle mounting point, locating the half-shaft and supporting it so the inner CV joint and shaft run true. By retaining the bearing in position it keeps the driveshaft properly supported and reduces vibration and play. Owners replace this clamp when it has cracked, corroded, or lost its clamping force, when the carrier bearing is loose or noisy and the support hardware is worn, or when servicing the axle, intermediate shaft, or carrier bearing and the retainer is damaged. A worn or broken retainer clamp can let the support bearing shift, causing vibration, clunking, and accelerated CV joint wear.
