  This is a genuine Ford PCV valve grommet, the rubber grommet that seats the positive crankcase ventilation valve into the valve cover or intake. The grommet holds the PCV valve securely and seals around it so crankcase ventilation vapors are routed only through the valve and not leaked past the connection. By sealing the PCV valve to the cover it ensures the crankcase ventilation system maintains the correct controlled flow and does not draw unmetered air. Owners replace the grommet when it has hardened, cracked, or torn, when the PCV valve is loose in its bore, or when a vacuum leak, rough idle, or oil seepage is traced to a failed grommet around the PCV valve. A deteriorated grommet can let the PCV valve fall out or leak, upsetting idle and allowing oil mist to escape. Built to Ford specifications, the grommet provides the correct diameter, sealing profile, and material to seat the PCV valve in the factory location without modification.
