• Description:

  This is a genuine Motorcraft air filter restriction indicator assembly for the 6.0L Power Stroke turbo diesel, part number FA-1784. Mounted in the air cleaner outlet duct, the indicator continuously senses the vacuum drawn across the engine air filter element and displays how much the filter has loaded up with dirt. As the filter approaches the end of its service life, the gauge locks in a colored signal that tells the operator the element needs replacement, taking the guesswork out of maintenance intervals on trucks that work in dusty conditions. It fits 2003 through 2007 Ford Super Duty F-250 and F-350 trucks and the Excursion equipped with the 6.0L Power Stroke diesel, and it is normally supplied together with the air cleaner assembly. A failed or clogged restriction indicator can stick, read inaccurately, or leak air past its housing, which leads to running an overloaded filter, reduced airflow, sluggish throttle response, and elevated exhaust smoke, or in the case of an air leak, unfiltered air reaching the turbocharger and engine. When installing, make sure the indicator seats fully and seals against its port so the reading stays accurate and no unmetered air enters the intake tract. This Motorcraft component restores factory air filter monitoring so the element is changed on condition rather than on a guess.
