• Description:

  This is the genuine Ford valve, or rocker arm, cover gasket for the 6.0L Power Stroke turbo diesel, the upper gasket that seals the cover to the spacer. It seals the upper joint of the valve cover assembly stack, keeping oil contained at the top of the valvetrain and preventing leaks where the cover meets the spacer. It fits 2003 to 2007 F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty, E-350 vans and the Excursion with the 6.0L diesel. This gasket is replaced whenever the valve cover is removed for service, since it should not be reused once disturbed, and when an oil leak appears at the cover-to-spacer joint. Symptoms include oil seepage at the top of the engine, an oil smell, and visible oil tracking from the cover seam. Because the valve covers on this engine are removed often for common repairs such as glow plug, injector and control module service, renewing this gasket is a routine part of that work, and it is typically replaced together with the lower cover-to-head gasket. Installing a new genuine gasket restores a clean, oil-tight seal. Replacement involves removing the cover, cleaning both sealing surfaces, seating the new gasket squarely in the groove, and torquing the cover fasteners evenly to specification to avoid distortion.
