  This is the genuine Motorcraft engine crankcase vent valve, cataloged by Ford as the Engine Crankcase Vent Valve and also referred to as the crankcase ventilation adapter. It manages the flow of crankcase blow-by vapors on the 6.0L Power Stroke diesel, routing gases out of the crankcase and separating oil mist so the vapors are handled correctly rather than pressurizing the engine or fouling the intake. It fits 2003-2010 Ford 6.0L Power Stroke diesel applications, covering Super Duty F-250 through F-550 and Excursion trucks along with the E-Series vans that carried the 6.0L engine. A clogged, cracked, or failed vent valve causes crankcase pressure to build, which shows up as oil pushing past seals and the dipstick tube, oil misting or blow-by at the breather, a whistling or suction noise, or oil accumulating in the ventilation plumbing. Replacing it with the correct genuine part restores proper crankcase ventilation and protects gaskets and seals from pressure-driven leaks. This is the current Motorcraft service component for the 6.0L crankcase ventilation circuit and supersedes the earlier service configuration for this adapter. Inspect the connecting hoses and grommets while the part is accessible, make sure the mating surfaces are clean, and seat the valve fully so the ventilation path is sealed and free of restriction before returning the engine to service.
