This is the genuine Ford upper oil pan gasket for the 6.0L and 6.4L Power Stroke turbo diesel. The gasket seals the upper oil pan, the structural pan section, to the engine block, keeping engine oil contained and preventing leaks at this joint. It fits 2003 to 2010 F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty, the Excursion in earlier years and E-350, covering both the 6.0L and 6.4L diesel. The upper oil pan gasket is replaced when oil leaks at the upper pan-to-block joint, when the gasket has hardened or been damaged, and during oil pan, pickup, pump or bottom-end service. Symptoms of a failed gasket include oil seepage at the block-to-pan seam, oil dripping from the lower engine, and gradual oil loss. Installing a fresh genuine gasket restores an oil-tight seal at the upper pan. Replacement involves draining the oil, removing the pans, cleaning the sealing surfaces of all old gasket and sealant, fitting the new gasket correctly, and torquing the fasteners evenly to specification in the proper sequence, with the related lower pan gasket renewed at the same time. Because accessing the upper pan is a substantial job on this engine, fresh gaskets and seals throughout the area are recommended during the repair.
