• Description:

  This is the genuine Ford engine crankshaft front cover oil seal, supplied with its wear sleeve, for the 6.0L Power Stroke turbo diesel. The seal rides on the crankshaft at the front timing cover, sealing the front of the engine so oil stays inside, and the included wear sleeve restores a fresh sealing surface on the crankshaft snout. It fits 2003 to 2010 F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty, the Excursion in earlier years and E-350 with the 6.0L diesel. The front crankshaft seal is replaced when oil leaks from the front of the engine, when the seal hardens or wears, and during front-cover, balancer or timing service. Symptoms of a failed front seal include oil seepage and dripping at the front of the engine, oil flung onto the front accessories and belt, and over time oil loss. Because the original sealing surface on the crank can wear a groove, the included wear sleeve is important for a lasting repair. Installing a new genuine seal and sleeve restores an oil-tight front seal. Replacement involves removing the front pulley or damper and accessing the cover, removing the old seal, installing the wear sleeve and new seal squarely to the correct depth, and reassembling to specification.
