This is the genuine Ford engine oil cooler gasket, the lower gasket included with the oil cooler, for the 6.0L Power Stroke turbo diesel. The gasket seals the lower joint of the oil cooler and adapter block assembly, keeping engine oil and coolant separated and contained in their passages. It fits 2003 to 2010 F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty, the Excursion and E-350 with the 6.0L diesel. This gasket is replaced whenever the oil cooler is serviced or replaced, a frequent repair on this engine because the cooler is prone to clogging with debris that raises oil and coolant temperatures, and when a leak develops at the lower cooler joint. The gasket should not be reused once the cooler is disturbed and is renewed as part of that service. Installing a fresh genuine gasket restores a clean, leak-free seal between the cooler and its mating surface. Replacement is part of oil cooler service and requires thorough cleaning of the sealing faces, correct gasket orientation, and torque to specification, together with the related upper adapter gasket and O-ring seals.
