  This genuine Ford component is the rear door lock operating rod, cataloged as Rod Door Lock Push Button and also listed as Handle Rod and Lock Rod, for the passenger side rear door of the 2003 through 2017 Ford Expedition, covering both the 119 inch wheelbase and the 131 inch extended wheelbase body styles. The rod is black and includes the lock knob. Mechanically it is the linkage that ties the interior lock knob at the top of the door trim to the latch assembly inside the door: pushing the knob down or pulling it up rotates the latch lever through this rod, giving the occupant a manual lock override independent of the power lock actuator. Buyers replace this part when the rear lock knob has snapped off or pulled free from the rod, when the plastic clip or bushing at the latch end has aged and broken so the knob moves but the latch never follows, when the rod is bent from a break in attempt or from door panel work, or when the knob feels loose and sloppy and no longer holds the locked position.
