• Description:

  This genuine Motorcraft HVAC blower motor resistor, Ford catalog part number YH-1715, controls heater and air conditioning fan speed by resistively dropping voltage to the blower motor on the lower and intermediate speed settings so the climate control switch can command the airflow the driver selects. It is the correct service part for the newer-style Ford F-150 from 2004 through 2008 and the related Lincoln Mark LT equipped with manual air conditioning. A failed resistor most often leaves the blower operating only at the top speed, dead on one or more of the lower speeds, or completely unresponsive, so heat, defrost and cooling airflow become erratic or disappear. Because the resistor sits in the blower airflow inside the HVAC case to shed heat, a burned unit frequently signals a dragging or failing blower motor drawing excess current, so inspect the motor at the same time. Fitting this Motorcraft resistor restores full stepped fan-speed control and proper vent output.
