This genuine Ford upper cowl cover seal fits between the plastic cowl vent cover panel at the base of the windshield and the body on the 2004-2014 Ford F-150 and the Lincoln Mark LT, across Regular Cab, Super Cab, Super Crew, and Crew Cab configurations. It seals the joint where the cowl grille panel meets the windshield and body, keeping rainwater, leaves, and road debris out of the cowl plenum that feeds the fresh-air and HVAC intake and shielding the wiper linkage and blower area beneath. When this seal hardens, shrinks, tears, or works loose, water and debris collect in the cowl and can migrate into the HVAC system or down into the cabin, producing damp carpets or footwells, a musty odor from the vents, wind or rattle noise at the base of the windshield, and clogged cowl drains. Ford catalogs this component as a Seal with the alternate names Cowl Cover Seal and Cowl Seal, upper position.
