• Description:

  This genuine Ford exhaust manifold gasket, base number 9448, seals the joint between a cylinder head and its exhaust manifold on the 4.6L and 5.4L three-valve modular V8 engines used in the Mustang GT, F-150 and other modular-V8 applications. The gasket seats one exhaust port path, sealing high-temperature combustion gases at the head-to-manifold flange so exhaust flows into the manifold instead of leaking into the engine bay. Built to withstand repeated thermal cycling, it maintains a tight seal as the manifold expands and contracts. Drivers needing this gasket are typically chasing a ticking or hissing exhaust leak that is loudest on cold start, a burnt or sooty residue around the manifold flange, or a failed seal discovered while replacing broken manifold studs, a common modular-V8 service issue. It is replaced whenever the manifold is removed, when an exhaust leak is traced to the flange, or as part of a broken-stud repair. Manufactured to Ford specifications, it restores the original sealing surface and flange fit. Replace the gasket any time the manifold is unbolted, inspect the manifold and head flange for warpage or cracked studs, and torque the fasteners in the correct sequence to specification. Use new hardware where the original studs were seized or broken.
