This Motorcraft engine coolant thermostat kit controls warm-up and operating temperature on Ford's 2.3L and 2.5L Duratec four-cylinder engines, combining the thermostat with its water outlet housing and seal so coolant is blocked from the radiator until the engine reaches temperature, then metered through as heat rises to hold a stable calibration. It fits 2006-2020 Ford Fusion and 2004-2011 Ford Focus and related 2.3L and 2.5L applications. Because the thermostat is integrated into the outlet, a failure often shows up as a coolant leak at the housing in addition to temperature problems: a unit stuck open leaves the engine running cold with weak heat and a lit coolant-temperature warning, while a stuck-closed unit spikes the gauge and risks overheating and cylinder-head damage. Cracked plastic housings are a common age-related failure that this kit resolves by replacing the thermostat and outlet together. Install with the supplied seal, verify the mating surface is clean, refill with the specified coolant, and bleed trapped air. Genuine Ford Motorcraft calibration restores correct fan, heater, and fuel-trim behavior.
