This genuine Ford rear disc brake caliper, catalog number DR3Z-2553-B, is the driver-side (left-hand) rear caliper for the 2007-2014 Ford Mustang built with the upgraded performance brake package, including GT cars with performance brakes, Boss, Shelby, and Performance Package models. The caliper houses the pistons and seals that press the brake pads against the rear rotor under hydraulic pressure, producing the clamping force that slows the rear axle. Warning signs of caliper failure include uneven or dragging brakes, a pull to one side, fluid weeping at the piston seal or bleeder screw, a sticking piston that overheats the rotor and pads, weak braking, or a spongy pedal from a seized slide pin.
