• Description:

  This is the genuine Ford ignition immobilizer module, also cataloged as the PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) transceiver. It is the ring-shaped antenna and electronics assembly that fits around the ignition lock cylinder, energizes the transponder chip embedded in the key, reads its coded identity, and relays that authorization to the powertrain control module so the engine is permitted to start. It fits 2008-2012 Ford Escape, Ford Focus, and Mercury Mariner applications. When this transceiver fails or loses its connection you typically see a flashing theft or key symbol, a no-start or immediate stall after firing, keys that intermittently refuse to be recognized, or a stored PATS communication fault, even though the battery and starter are healthy. Because the module cannot read the key, the PCM disables fuel and spark as an anti-theft measure. Corrosion at the pigtail, a chafed antenna lead, or internal electronic failure are the usual root causes. This OEM part is the correct factory-specified transceiver for these vehicles, matching the original connector and mounting collar so it seats over the lock cylinder without modification. Note that after installation the module must be initialized to the vehicle and the existing keys re-learned using Ford-approved diagnostic equipment; it is not a plug-and-play swap, so plan for the key-relearn programming step before the engine will start and run normally.
