  This genuine Ford outer tie rod end is the steering-linkage joint that connects the inner tie rod to the steering knuckle on the front suspension of the Escape and Mariner built from the 5/26/09 production change through the end of that platform, and it fits either the left or right side. The part carries a sealed ball stud and protective boot that transmit steering-rack motion to the road wheel while allowing suspension travel, and it threads onto the inner tie rod to set front toe. A worn outer tie rod end is a common cause of loose or vague steering, a clunk or rattle heard over bumps, uneven or feathered tire wear, and an alignment that will not hold its toe setting. This genuine unit supersedes earlier service numbers including 8L8Z-3A130-B and 5M6Z-3A130-AA and restores the correct stud taper and thread pitch for a proper fit.
