On automatic-climate systems this module converts a low-current speed request from the climate control head into a smoothly variable high-current feed to the blower motor, producing stepless fan speed instead of fixed resistor steps. When it fails the blower commonly quits altogether, runs only at one speed, stays on with the key off, or drops out intermittently, and fan speed no longer follows the automatic setting. As a factory Motorcraft part it plugs into the original connector and mounts in the original HVAC-case location for a direct replacement that restores full variable blower control.
