  This Genuine Ford dust boot, also cataloged as a dust cover or dust shield, is the accordion-style bellows that fits over the front shock absorber and piston rod to seal out road grit, water and debris. It protects the polished shock rod and upper mounting area on 2009-2024 Ford Expedition, 2010-2020 Ford F-150, 2009-2024 Lincoln Navigator and 2010-2014 Lincoln Mark LT, in both rear-wheel-drive and part-time four-wheel-drive configurations, and one boot serves each front corner. When the rubber bellows tears, hardens or falls apart with age, abrasive dirt reaches the shock rod and seal, accelerating pitting, rod-seal wear and premature loss of damping that shows up as a knocking front end, oil weeping from the strut, or a shock that fails early. Fitting a fresh boot whenever a front shock or strut is serviced is inexpensive insurance that preserves the new damper.
