  This is a genuine Motorcraft engine air filter, part number FA-1897, for the 2010 through 2014 Ford Mustang. The panel-style filter uses pleated media to capture dust, dirt, and debris from incoming air before it reaches the mass air flow sensor, throttle body, and cylinders, protecting internal engine components from abrasive wear while flowing enough air for full power and correct fuel metering. It seats directly in the factory air cleaner box on V6 and V8 Mustang applications with no modification required. As the media loads with contaminants, airflow drops and drivers typically notice softer throttle response, reduced fuel economy, rough or uneven idle, and sometimes a check engine light for mass air flow or lean running conditions, with heavy soot loading in extreme cases.
