When the master cylinder fails the symptoms include a brake pedal that sinks to the floor under steady pressure, a soft pedal that does not firm up with pumping, or a no-leak external presentation paired with brake fluid level dropping in the reservoir. The Ford-supplied unit is the correct service replacement and is matched to the original booster pushrod, fluid reservoir, and master cylinder mount on the firewall. Bench-bleed the master cylinder before installation and bleed all four corners after fitment.
