This genuine Ford Motorcraft accessory drive belt idler pulley guides and maintains tension on the serpentine belt as it routes around the engine accessory drive, keeping the belt aligned over the alternator, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump and water pump. The pulley rides on a sealed, maintenance-free ball bearing. It fits 2011-2013 Ford F-150 with the 5.0L V8, built from 2/15/11, mounted as an accessory-drive idler. A dry or worn idler bearing is a common source of front-of-engine noise, so drivers report a squeal, chirp, grinding or rattle that often varies with rpm, belt vibration or slippage, and premature belt wear. A pulley that feels rough, notchy or loose when spun by hand should be replaced.
