• Description:

  This Motorcraft lower steering shaft connects the steering column to the steering gear, transmitting the driver's input through its universal joints so the front wheels turn precisely and predictably. It is the lower intermediate shaft assembly for 2011 through 2014 Ford F-150 trucks and is built to genuine Ford OEM dimensions and spline fitment. As the joints and slip section wear, drivers commonly notice steering play or looseness on center, a clunk or popping felt through the wheel when turning or crossing bumps, notchy or binding steering effort, and knocking noises from the base of the column. Replacing the worn shaft restores tight, quiet, and accurate steering feel and removes the safety concern of a failing joint. This is a factory-matched assembly that installs between the column and the gear input. The pinch bolts that secure the shaft are single-use fasteners and must be replaced with new hardware during installation and torqued to Ford specification; do not reuse the original upper and lower bolts, as they are designed to be tightened only once for a secure clamp on the splined connection.
