The assembly is the hydraulic heart of the anti-lock braking system. It sits between the master cylinder and the wheel circuits and contains the solenoid valve block along with the ABS pump and motor assembly. During a hard stop the control module reads the wheel speed sensors, and when it sees a wheel about to lock it uses these solenoids to isolate, dump, and reapply pressure at that corner many times per second, keeping the tire rolling so the driver retains steering control. Verified fitment is the 2011 through 2016 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty with dual rear wheels, built without stability control and without trailer sway control, and the unit includes the ABS pump and motor assembly. Ford applies a build date break within the 2011 model year on this base, so confirm the production date of your truck along with the model year and rear axle configuration before ordering. This release supersedes BC3Z-2C215-A. Typical symptoms include an illuminated ABS warning lamp with stored valve or pump motor codes, a pump that runs continuously or never runs during a self test, a brake pedal that sinks or pulses abnormally, anti-lock activation on dry pavement at low speed, or no anti-lock function at all during a panic stop. Internal corrosion, contaminated brake fluid, and a failed pump motor are the usual root causes. This assembly requires post installation configuration and calibration with a capable scan tool, plus a full brake system bleed following the Ford procedure, since air trapped inside the valve block will not clear with a conventional pedal bleed.
