  This genuine Ford Motorcraft GL-8828 alternator is the factory charging unit for 2011 through 2016 F-Series Super Duty trucks powered by the 6.7L Power Stroke turbo diesel. On trucks fitted with dual alternators it is the lower high output unit, and on single alternator trucks it serves as the heavy duty main alternator. The alternator converts engine rotation into the regulated electrical output that keeps the battery charged and powers the glow plugs, injectors, lighting, and accessory loads a diesel demands. A failing alternator shows up as a battery or charge warning light, dim or flickering lights, low system voltage, repeated dead batteries, a whining or grinding bearing noise, or a no start from an undercharged battery. This Motorcraft unit is built to the original amperage and mounting specification so it bolts in and charges correctly without wiring changes.
