This genuine Ford air bag clock spring GB5Z-14A664-D officially the Cover and Contact Plate Assembly is the rotating electrical contact that maintains a continuous connection between the fixed steering column wiring and the components in the rotating steering wheel on 2011-2017 Ford Explorer Edge Taurus and Lincoln MKT MKX models equipped with a heated steering wheel and tilt-and-telescopic column. The clock spring carries the driver airbag squib circuit horn steering-wheel audio cruise and heated-wheel signals through a coiled flat ribbon that winds and unwinds as the wheel turns. When it fails the driver airbag or SRS warning light illuminates and stores codes the horn or steering-wheel switches stop working intermittently or the cruise and audio buttons go dead symptoms usually caused by a broken or worn internal ribbon after high-mileage steering.
