• Description:

  This genuine Ford timing cover gasket, base number 6020, seals the front engine timing cover on the 5.0L Coyote V8 used in the Mustang GT and shared F-150 Coyote applications. The gasket seals the timing cover to the block and front of the engine, keeping engine oil contained within the timing-drive area and sealing the cover-to-water-pump interface so coolant and oil stay in their separate circuits. As a front-of-engine seal exposed to both oil pressure and coolant routing, a hardened or torn gasket leads to oil weeping from the timing cover, coolant seepage at the water pump joint, or a combined leak at the front of the engine. Owners and technicians replace this gasket when correcting a front engine oil or coolant leak, or whenever the timing cover is removed for water pump, front seal, timing chain, or oil pump service. Manufactured to Ford specifications, it restores the original sealing surface and resists the oil, coolant and heat at the front of the Coyote engine. Replace the gasket any time the timing cover is unbolted, clean the block and cover sealing faces thoroughly, and torque the cover fasteners in the correct sequence to specification. Inspect the water pump and front crank seal while the cover is off so related leaks are addressed together.
