  This genuine Ford clutch release bearing and slave cylinder assembly is the concentric hydraulic release unit for the 2011 through 2017 Ford Mustang equipped with the six-speed manual transmission, including the 5.0L V8. Ford catalogs it as a slave cylinder and cylinder assembly clutch slave; it mounts inside the bellhousing around the input shaft and uses hydraulic pressure from the clutch master cylinder to push the release bearing against the pressure plate fingers, disengaging the clutch when the pedal is pressed. A failing unit leaks fluid internally, causing a soft or sinking clutch pedal, a clutch that will not fully release, grinding on shifts, or an inability to select gears.
