• Description:

  This genuine Ford Motorcraft CV axle assembly is the complete front right, passenger side halfshaft for the 2011 through 2019 Ford Explorer with the 3.5L V6 and the related Police Interceptor Utility. The axle transmits engine torque from the power transfer unit out to the front wheel through inner and outer constant velocity joints, allowing the wheel to receive power while it steers and the suspension moves up and down. It arrives as a fully assembled shaft with both CV joints, fresh boots, and grease already installed, ready to bolt in as a unit. Symptoms that send a buyer to this part include a loud clicking or popping on turns, a rhythmic clunk on acceleration, vibration that grows with speed, or grease thrown inside the wheel from a torn boot, all signs of a worn or failing joint. Replacing the whole assembly is generally preferred over rebuilding a badly worn joint because it restores both joints and both boots at once. Installation disturbs the front hub and axle retaining hardware, and the axle nut is a single-use fastener that must not be reused; a new nut should be torqued to Ford specification to properly preload the wheel bearing.
