This listing covers one standard upper and lower bearing as a matched pair, not for a complete engine set. The connecting rod bearing rides between the connecting rod big end and the crankshaft journal, supporting the cyclic combustion and inertia loads through a thin film of pressurized oil supplied by the main oil gallery. Worn or spun rod bearings cause low oil pressure, knocking at light load, and at the limit engine seizure. Replacement bearings must be matched to the crankshaft journal size confirmed with a micrometer; standard, oversize, and undersize variants exist for engines that have been ground at a previous overhaul. Use Plastigage to confirm clearance, install with clean assembly lube on the bearing face, and torque the rod cap bolts in the published sequence to the correct angle stages.
