This is a genuine Ford snap ring for the 6R140 TorqShift six-speed automatic transmission, the retaining ring that locks the direct-drive clutch piston assembly in place inside the transmission (Ford designation ring, snap, transmission direct-drive clutch piston). It fits vehicles equipped with the 6R140 automatic, including 2011-2019 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty with the 6.2L gas V8, 6.8L V10 or 6.7L Power Stroke diesel, 2014 E-150 and E-250, 2016-2019 E-350 and E-450 vans, and 2016-2019 F53 stripped chassis. As an internal clutch retaining ring it is used during transmission service, overhaul or clutch-pack rebuild; a missing, worn or incorrectly seated ring can let the clutch piston shift, causing slipping, harsh engagement or loss of a gear.
