  This genuine Ford drive shaft center support retainer, base number 4A254, is the strap-style retainer that captures the driveshaft center bearing support on the F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty. On a two-piece driveshaft, the center support carries the bearing that locates the midpoint of the shaft, and this retainer holds the support assembly secured at its crossmember mount so the shaft stays aligned and supported through its length. As a driveline mounting component it keeps the center bearing positioned under the loads and vibration of the rotating shaft. Owners and technicians need this part when servicing the center support bearing, replacing a two-piece driveshaft, or correcting driveline vibration or a clunk traced to a loose or failed center support.
