  This is a genuine Ford Motorcraft engine oil filter, catalogued under the QFL service number and listed as superseding the earlier FL-2056 filter. It seats in the engine oil filter housing and filters the circulating oil, trapping abrasive wear metals, carbon, and dirt before they can reach bearings, the oil pump, and other precision surfaces. By keeping the oil clean and the lubrication system at steady pressure, the element protects the engine from accelerated internal wear. The cartridge-style filter is serviced together with its sealing gasket so the cap reseals correctly against the housing.
