  This is a genuine Ford brake master cylinder assembly, the hydraulic heart of the service brake system that converts brake pedal pressure into hydraulic force, sending pressurized fluid through the circuits to the front and rear brakes. It includes the integral fluid reservoir and mounts to the power brake booster on 2012 through 2018 Ford Focus models. When a master cylinder wears out, the internal seals bypass and the driver notices a brake pedal that slowly sinks to the floor under steady foot pressure, a spongy or inconsistent pedal, longer stopping distances, or brake fluid loss around the booster with no external wheel leaks. It can also cause uneven braking between the front and rear circuits. The Ford catalog lists this as the Master Cylinder and it supersedes earlier service numbers for this platform. Bench-bleed the master cylinder before installation to purge trapped air from the bores, then perform a full system bleed at all four corners after mounting so the pedal is firm.
