This is the genuine Ford rear brake dust shield, the stamped-steel backing plate that mounts behind the rear disc brake and shields the rotor and caliper from road debris, water, and mud. By keeping grit and spray off the friction surface it helps the pads and rotor wear evenly and protects the caliper hardware. It fits 2012 through 2018 Ford Focus and 2013 through 2018 C-Max models built with the 2.0L engine and rear disc brakes, and Ford lists it for left, right, and rear positions. Buyers usually replace this shield after it has been bent during a brake job, wheel service, or road impact, which leaves it contacting the rotor and producing a constant scraping, ringing, or rubbing noise that changes with wheel speed.
