• Description:

  This is a genuine Ford automatic transmission torque converter for the 6F mid-range six-speed automatic transaxle, fitting a range of 2012-2019 Ford and Lincoln models including the Explorer, Edge, Escape, Taurus, and Lincoln MKC, MKT, and MKX, in applications such as the 2.0L EcoBoost and related 3.5L and 3.7L six-speed automatic configurations. The torque converter is the fluid coupling between the engine and the transmission; it multiplies engine torque on launch, allows the engine to idle while the vehicle is stopped, and locks up through its internal clutch for direct drive at cruise to improve efficiency. Drivers replace a torque converter when they experience shuddering or vibration under light throttle at highway speed from a failing lockup clutch, slipping or a stall-speed change, whining or a rattling noise from the front of the transmission, overheating, or metal contamination found in the transmission fluid during a rebuild. A failed converter can also set torque converter clutch fault codes and cause harsh or delayed engagement. This unit supersedes the earlier BB5Z-7902-E and BB5Z-7902-F service numbers and is the current released converter for these applications. This part carries a core charge, and the old converter should be returned per Ford core policy.
