  This genuine Ford windshield rain sensor module is the optical sensor that mounts to the inside of the windshield behind the mirror and automatically controls the wipers, measuring moisture on the glass so the automatic wiper system can adjust wiping speed and frequency without driver input. Ford catalogs it as a Rain Sensor and it serves a 2013 through 2016 group of vehicles including the Ford Transit Connect, Escape and C-Max equipped with the rain-sensing wiper option. Drivers usually replace this module when the automatic wipers stop responding to rain, wipe erratically or at the wrong speed, run continuously, or when the rain-sensing feature is lost after a windshield replacement. Because the sensor reads through a gel pad coupled to the glass, it is commonly disturbed or damaged during windshield work and must be correctly re-seated or renewed.
