This Motorcraft engine coolant thermostat kit manages coolant temperature on Ford's 2.0L four-cylinder engines, supplying the thermostat within its integrated housing so the engine warms quickly and then holds a steady operating temperature for clean combustion, strong cabin heat, and correct fuel trims. It fits 2013-2018 Ford Focus and 2013-2016 Ford Escape and related 2.0L applications, including turbocharged and non-hybrid variants. As an integrated assembly it addresses both temperature control and the coolant seepage that develops when the original plastic housing ages and cracks. A thermostat stuck open produces a chronic cold-running condition with a heater that never fully warms, sluggish economy, and a temperature warning, while one stuck closed causes rapid overheating, coolant loss, steam, and potential head-gasket or cylinder-head damage. Replace at the first sign of erratic gauge behavior or a housing leak. Install with the included seal, make sure the sealing face is clean and undamaged, refill with the specified coolant, and bleed air from the cooling system so the thermostat opens correctly on the first heat cycle.
