• Description:

  This genuine Ford adapter gasket, base number 6840, seals an engine oil adapter or housing joint on the 2.0L EcoBoost and related engines used in the Escape. The gasket seats between the adapter and its mating surface, sealing pressurized engine oil at the joint so oil flows through its passages without leaking externally. As an oil-circuit seal it must hold against oil pressure and heat to keep the joint dry. Owners and technicians need this gasket when tracing an engine oil leak to the adapter or housing area, or when reassembling after service that required removing the adapter, since the original gasket is a single-use sealing element that should not be reused.
