This Motorcraft accessory drive belt idler pulley is a genuine Ford part that keeps the serpentine belt properly routed and tensioned across the engine's accessory drive, maintaining belt wrap on the alternator, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump and water pump. The pulley turns on a sealed ball bearing pressed into a machined housing. It fits 2013-2019 Ford Explorer with the 3.5L V6, mounted as an accessory-drive idler. When the internal bearing dries out or wears, drivers notice a squeal, chirp, grinding or rattling noise from the front of the engine that often changes with rpm, along with belt vibration, slippage or premature belt wear. A pulley that spins roughly, wobbles, or shows a heat-discolored or contaminated bearing should be replaced. Fit this idler at the same time as the accessory belt, spin it to confirm smooth, quiet rotation, and make sure the belt seats squarely before returning the vehicle to service.
