This Motorcraft front disc brake rotor is the friction disc that the front brake pads squeeze to generate stopping force on 2013-2019 Ford Explorer, Flex, and Taurus models built on the D-platform, including Police Interceptor Utility applications in Ford's 1125 front rotor family. Made of cast iron and mounted at the front hub, it absorbs and dissipates the intense heat of braking while its machined faces are ground to factory thickness, runout, and surface-finish tolerances for quiet, pulsation-free performance. Owners replace a front rotor when they feel a shudder or pulsation through the brake pedal or steering wheel, hear grinding or squealing, or find the rotor deeply scored, heat-checked, corroded, or worn below the minimum thickness cast into the hub section. Thin or warped front rotors lengthen stopping distances and accelerate pad wear. This genuine Motorcraft rotor reestablishes the engineered braking surface and thermal capacity, and it fits the left or right front position. For a complete repair, fit new front pads, clean the hub face so the rotor seats flat, and verify rotor diameter and brake package by VIN because several front brake configurations were produced.
