  This genuine Ford rack and pinion boot, or steering gear bellows, is the flexible convoluted rubber sleeve that seals the end of the steering rack where the inner tie rod exits the housing. It keeps grease in and blocks water, road salt, and grit from reaching the rack teeth and inner tie rod socket, protecting the steering gear from corrosion and premature wear. It fits a broad CD4 range including Ford Fusion and Edge, Police Responder Hybrid, and Lincoln MKZ, MKX, Continental, and Nautilus across the 2013 through 2024 span, mounting on either the driver or passenger side of the rack. Owners seek this boot when the original is torn, cracked, oil-soaked, or dislodged from its clamps, which allows contamination that leads to a clicking or loose inner tie rod, steering play, or grease slung onto surrounding parts. A split boot will also fail inspection in many areas. Replacing it with the correct Ford bellows restores a sealed, protected rack and extends the life of the tie rod and gear.
