• Description:

  This genuine Ford connecting rod links a piston to the crankshaft and transmits the force of combustion to turn the crankshaft in the 1.5L EcoBoost / GTDI four-cylinder engine used in the 2014-2019 Ford Fusion and 2017-2019 Ford Escape. The rod is a precision-machined, weight-matched component whose big-end bore is sized to the crankshaft rod journal and small end to the piston pin, so dimensional accuracy is critical to bearing clearance and engine balance. Buyers generally need a connecting rod after internal engine damage such as a spun rod bearing, a bent or fractured rod from hydro-lock or over-rev, or when rebuilding an engine that suffered oil starvation. Warning signs include deep knocking noises from the lower engine, low oil pressure, metal in the oil, or a rod that has failed catastrophically. Because it is a rotating internal component, the rod must be installed with the correct bearing clearance, oriented properly, and matched to the engine's weight grade. The connecting rod bolts are single-use torque-to-yield fasteners that stretch during installation and must be replaced with new bolts and tightened to the Ford-specified torque plus angle sequence; do not reuse the original rod bolts.
