  This is a genuine Motorcraft Ford spark plug for the 1.5L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine in 14-20 Fusion and Escape vehicles. The plug supersedes the earlier SP-539 application, providing factory-correct heat range, electrode design, and thread pitch for the 1.5L EcoBoost platform. Common reasons for replacement include scheduled maintenance, misfire diagnosis, fouling, or worn electrodes after extended highway service. Symptoms of failed plugs include rough idle, hesitation under acceleration, reduced fuel economy, hard cold start, and cylinder-specific misfire codes such as P0301 through P0304. Ford recommends inspecting and replacing the plugs as a complete set at the scheduled service interval (typically 60,000 miles on the 1.5L EcoBoost) and replacing the ignition coil boots at the same time if they show signs of carbon tracking, hardening, or pinhole arcing. Iridium plugs come pre-gapped from the factory and do not require adjustment.
