• Description:

  This is a genuine Motorcraft Ford spark plug for the 1.0L EcoBoost three-cylinder engine in 14-21 Fiesta, Focus, and EcoSport vehicles. The plug supersedes the earlier SP-538A application, providing improved electrode design and longer service life on the 1.0L EcoBoost platform. Common reasons for replacement include reaching the scheduled service interval, misfire diagnosis on a specific cylinder, fouling due to a rich-running condition, or worn electrodes after high-mileage use. Symptoms of failed plugs include rough idle, hesitation under acceleration, reduced fuel economy, hard cold start, and misfire codes such as P0301 through P0303. Ford recommends inspecting and replacing the plugs as a complete set at the scheduled service interval (typically 60,000 miles on the 1.0L) and replacing the ignition coil boots at the same time if they show signs of carbon tracking or hardening. Always gap is preset from the factory; do not adjust the gap on iridium plugs as this damages the precious metal tip. Apply a small amount of anti-seize to the threads only if specified for your application.
