  This genuine Ford fastener is the spare tire carrier winch bolt, also cataloged as a stopper bolt or spare tire hoist bolt, for the 2014-2023 Transit Connect in the 105-inch and 121-inch wheelbase, short and long body configurations. It is an M10 by 60mm bolt that secures the spare wheel carrier winch mechanism to the underbody structure beneath the rear of the van, so it carries the static weight of the stowed spare wheel and every road shock that wheel transmits while the vehicle is loaded and working. Because it lives fully exposed under the floor, it takes the direct blast of road salt, brine and gravel, and it is one of the first fasteners on the van to seize. Owners typically need it when the head is rounded off or snapped during an attempt to lower the spare, when the threads are rusted so badly the winch cannot be reinstalled, or when the carrier was removed for exhaust, fuel tank or floor repair and the corroded original fastener should not go back in. A weakened or missing bolt lets the carrier sag and can allow the spare wheel to hang low or come loose in traffic. Clean the mating threads in the underbody bracket before installing, replace corroded fasteners rather than reusing them, and tighten to the Ford specification so the carrier seats flat against the floor structure.
