  This genuine Ford hood insulation pad is the molded under-hood liner that mounts to the underside of the hood on the 2015-2017 F-150. Cataloged by Ford as an Insulator Hood it serves two jobs at once. It dampens engine and intake noise so less sound reaches the cabin and it shields the hood outer sheet metal and paint from the intense heat radiating off the engine which helps prevent heat-related paint discoloration. The pad is a dense fibrous blanket held to the hood by push-in retainer clips. Owners typically replace it when the original has become oil-soaked torn sagging or is drooping onto the engine where it can scorch melt or trap debris or when the retainer clips have let go and the liner hangs down. A deteriorated pad also lets more engine noise and heat into the cabin. This OEM pad is cut and molded to the exact contour of the 2015-2017 aluminum hood with the correct clip locations and cutouts so it seats flat and secures properly without trimming. It carries Ford part number FL3Z-16738-B. New retainer clips are recommended if the originals are brittle or missing so the fresh pad stays tight against the hood. As a factory Ford part it restores the original sound-deadening and heat-shielding performance the truck left the plant with on the thirteenth-generation F-150.
