This genuine Motorcraft power brake booster fits the 2015-2018 Mustang GT 5.0L equipped with the Performance Package, automatic transmission and the six-piston front caliper brake system, built from 03/30/2015. The vacuum booster multiplies the force the driver applies to the brake pedal, using engine vacuum acting against a large internal diaphragm so that normal pedal effort produces the high clamping force this high-performance brake system requires. A failing booster feels like a hard, high brake pedal that takes heavy effort to stop, or conversely a sinking pedal, hissing from the firewall, stalling when braking, or inconsistent pedal feel. Because this application uses the larger performance brake hardware, the correct booster is essential for the proper pedal ratio and stopping performance. Motorcraft part number BRB-140. Bench-bleed and bleed the brake system after installation, confirm the pushrod length and check-valve orientation are correct, and inspect the vacuum supply hose and check valve, since a leaking check valve will mimic a failed booster.
