  This is a genuine Motorcraft rear suspension shock absorber for the 2015-2019 Lincoln MKC, fitted on the right-hand (passenger) side of the rear axle. It is the electronically controlled continuous control damping damper for MKC models with all-wheel drive and the electronic controlled suspension, supplied with the shock mount, dust shield, and bumper. Rather than a fixed passive shock, this unit varies its damping in real time under the suspension control module, letting the MKC combine a refined ride with composed body motion. A failing rear damper reveals itself through a bouncy or floaty ride, body sway when cornering, clunking or knocking over bumps, bottoming out on rough roads, uneven or cupped rear tire wear, and frequently a suspension warning message when an electronic shock fails or is unplugged. Valved and wired to Ford's original specification, this Motorcraft unit restores factory ride refinement and preserves the electronic suspension calibration that generic passive shocks disrupt. It serves the passenger-side rear corner; the driver-side rear uses the mirror-image partner. Because it is an electronically adjustable damper, it must match the vehicle's controlled-damping configuration and may require a control-module relearn after installation.
