This Genuine Ford Motorcraft accessory drive belt tensioner and idler pulley assembly maintains proper tension on the serpentine belt that drives the engine accessories on the 3.2L Power Stroke five-cylinder turbo-diesel. It fits 2015-2019 Ford Transit vans built with the 3.2L diesel engine, with Ford dealer catalogs noting the application from the 10/29/2016 build date forward. The spring-loaded tensioner applies constant, controlled load to the drive belt so the alternator, water pump, and other accessories stay driven without slip. Common symptoms of a failing tensioner or pulley include belt squeal or chirp on start-up, a growling or rumbling bearing noise from the front of the engine, visible belt flutter, glazed or frayed belt edges, and premature belt wear. The pulley bearing and internal damping spring wear as a unit, so Ford specifies replacing the complete assembly and inspecting the belt condition during service.
